The area is served by several schools, including Holy Cross Primary School, Casllwchwr Primary School and Bishopston Primary. It is also home to several parks and recreational areas, such as South Gower Cricket Club, Fairwood Common and Killay Recreation Ground.

Transport links in the postcode are good, with various bus routes operated by First Cymru and Carmel serving the area. Swansea Metropolitan University is located just outside the postcode, whereas Swansea University is about a mile away. The postcode is also home to the Swansea AFC Training Ground and several sporting facilities, including Fendrod Leisure Centre, Hafod Morris Community Centre and Swansea Bay Golf Club.

Shopping and leisure facilities in the area include Brynmill Park, Swansea Indoor and Outdoor Market and a selection of shops and restaurants therein. The area is also home to several pubs and other places of entertainment, such as Mumbles Pavilion, Patti Pavilion and the Grand Theatre.

The postcode also contains the local NHS hospital, Singleton Hospital along with some GP practices, a police headquarters, an army reserve base and a magistrates' court.
