The economy of the region is largely centred around manufacturing and retail, with many large employers such as the textile company W.H Smiths, and the Bradford Dyers Federation.

The Post Office also has its headquarters in the region.

BD17 is well-connected to the country's motorway network, with easy access to the M62, M1 and M60 motorways.

There are plenty of recreational facilities throughout the postcode, such as Baildon Moor, in addition to a variety of heritage sites, parks, country walks and reservoirs, which all contribute to BD17's reputation as a peaceful spot for nature lovers.
