There are frequent ferry services from the mainland port at Yarmouth to the port at Ryde and, with one of the longest piers in the UK, Ryde has safe harbour for large private vessels.

The majority of businesses within PO37 are fairly small-scale, but a considerable number of industrial establishments exist in the postcode.
