The A30 also connects the area to Bodmin, Launceston and Okehampton. This postcode district also has good public transport links with regular bus services running through the area. For instance, Stagecoach South West 120 runs from Hatherleigh to Launceston and the X43 from Holsworthy stops in East Allington.

Recreational and other leisure activities in the area include the annual Hatherleigh Festival, held in the nearby town of Hatherleigh each year from the end of June to the beginning of July. There are also several pubs and bars in the area, such as The Fisherman's Arms in Shebbear and The Black Horse in East Allington.

The area is also popular for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling as it boasts stunning views of the surrounding countryside with its rolling hills and lush green pastures. There are several lovely walks including the Twinning Way, which passes through Shebbear, and Tarka Trail, a long distance footpath running from Meeth to Braunton. The nearby towns of Okehampton and Torrington also have golf courses, the former being an 18-hole municipal golf course.
