The Hoy Beachcombers, a local group of hobbyists dedicated to searching for interesting finds on the beach, can also be found in KW11.

KW11 also has a rich tradition of fishing, and traditionally, fishing boats were maintained annually in the area. This tradition continues today as fishermen still come from distant areas to fish in the rich waters throughout the Orkney islands. In addition, it has become a popular area for visitors to get out and about and experience the local wildlife.
