Many of the areas of the town have been improved since the 1970s, with pleasant residential neighbourhoods now available. A number of amenities are available near the centre of Blyth, including shops, banks, leisure facilities, and health services, while there is also a good selection of pubs and restaurants.

The coastal location of Blyth makes it a popular area with beachgoing holidaymakers and thrillseekers alike. It is home to one of the longest piers in England, more than half a mile in length, and there are a number of popular attractions including the Royal Quays Shopping Centre and the Staithes Memorial Park. The leisure centre in Blyth is well-equipped with a good gym, a gaming centre, and an attractive pool. With numerous cycle paths, docks, and an array of nearby attractions, there is plenty to keep people entertained in NE63 postcode.
