Netherton is well known for its variety of cuisine offerings; from curry houses to Caribbean restaurants and local pubs. It is also home to many independent shops and businesses, including Netherton Ironworks.

The L32 postcode also encompasses a significant portion of the M57, a motorway which links the district to many other parts of the city. Netherton is served by the nearby Bootle Oriel Road train station, while Ford has its own bus network, operated by Arriva.
