EX39 is a postcode district in the Exeter UK post town. It covers part of north Devon, including Tapeley Park, Westward Ho!, Appledore, Bideford, and Instow.

The area is approximately 26 square miles and is situated over a wide geographic area with its centre in Bideford. It was first introduced in September 2000 to replace the previous Torridge and North Devon postcode areas.

EX39 covers the towns and villages of Appledore, Bideford, and Instow amongst many others. There are numerous attractions in the postcode, including the popular landmark of Tapeley Park and Gardens with Instagrammable landscaped gardens and an impressive Victorian mansion. Westward Ho!, one of the first purpose-built seaside resorts in England, is also within the postcode.

The postcode contains two rail and road links connecting it to the nearby Exeter post town, and several scenic walking and cycling routes with beautiful coastal and countryside views. For those wanting a bit of history, there are several castles and ancient sites to explore.

There are many amenities, such as supermarkets, shops, pubs, and cafés located within the postcode area. The postcode is located within the economic and administrative area of Torridge District Council, and is home to some well-known awards-winning businesses.

Shopping in EX39 is a great experience. Westward Ho! has a range of independent shops, while Bideford has several antique shops and Bideford Pannier Market, a great place to buy local produce. Appledore offers a selection of independent retailers and plenty of eateries including popular fish and chip shops.

The area is home to Bodun Village Primary School and Bideford College, plus various other primary and secondary schools. There are also two leisure centres, vibrant community centres, and a library all located within the postcode.

And for those wanting to explore a bit further afield, Westward Ho! Beach is great for watersports, while Instow and Appledore both have lovely fishing harbours. South West Coastal Path takes you all the way to Padstow, and Exmoor National Park provides some scenic cycling opportunities.
