The village of Hatherton contains a small shopping area, and there are also some areas of rural countryside.

There are various primary and secondary schools in the postcode area, catering to families living there. Crewe Sixth Form College, as well as several universities, including the University of Chester and the University of Central Lancashire, are within travelling distance.

The area contains many parks and recreational areas, including Crewe Hall Park and Brookhouse Wood. Towns nearby include Sandbach and Nantwich, which have their own bustling centre, as well as historical sites such as Cholmondeley Castle.

Public services are provided by Cheshire East Council in the CW3 postcode area. There are two hospitals close by, Leighton Hospital in Crewe and the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester.

The area is served by the A500 and M6 motorways, as well as a number of other transport links, such as Crewe railway station, which offers direct and connecting services to destinations across the UK. There is also a regular bus service, with routes serving Crewe, Sandbach and other towns in the local area.
