Bocking is an ancient village, which still retains its market town charm with many of its old buildings still standing. It has a selection of independent shops and businesses, with a few pubs, a library, bank, post office and petrol station. It also includes the famous 'Bocking 14', a set of fourteen gnarly apple trees, believed to be directly descended from the 'Eden Tree'. Bocking has a strong community spirit, such as the annual Bocking Festival.

Bocking Churchstreet is a smaller but still important part of the postcode and is approximately one mile from the centre of Bocking. It contains the village centre, as well as a primary school, local church and some delightful old village houses, including many attractive thatched cottages.

The area is often visited by tourists due to its numerous points of interest. Much of the area is rural in nature and designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) due to its remote location and natural beauty. There are three nature reserves in the immediate vicinity, which provide interesting walks and hikes for leisure. Residents can also enjoy outdoor activities such as fishing at spots along the river Chelmer, as well as golfing, cricket and other leisure activities.

CM7 is served by the London Overground, with direct regular services to London Stratford and Liverpool Street. There are local buses running throughout the district, as well as easy access to major communication links such as the M25 and London Stansted Airport.

With a wide selection of local eateries, pubs and regular events, CM7 is an enjoyable destination for both visitors and locals alike. Its population continues to grow rapidly due to its convenient location, excellent transport links and vibrant community. It is widely considered an excellent place to live.
