Cyclical Maintenance Failing, 20th March

Wed, 20 Mar 2013 15:09:58 +0000

Previously advised that the maintenance of the area was cyclical...but little or nothing has been done to clear the sand, silt & rubbish build up on Hillside Road, Schoolhill Place & the surrounding roads. This is being pushed down the drains & could ultimately result in flooding if not addressed ASAP.

Damaged traffic Island - Bollards & Lighting Column, 20th March

Wed, 20 Mar 2013 15:10:48 +0000

Following an RTA, the bollards & lighting column were wiped out - months ago, no-one would accept responsibility to repair. SMHs advise this section of road is now adopted by Aberdeenshire Council, so can someone please fix before there is another accident - lights out/missing entirely. Island is barely visible, like the rest, due to the level of muck on this road.

Cover off streetlight, 19th January

Sat, 19 Jan 2013 17:19:22 +0000

The recently fixed streetlight outside 1 Schoolhill Place, now has the cover hanging off. Presumably not good for it's operation, but also potentially dangerous if the cover is ripped off by the wind. This area is adopted.

Another streetlight faulty, 8th January

Tue, 08 Jan 2013 20:16:30 +0000

This one is at the side of 1 Schoolhill Place, by The Bungalow, & is in the adopted footpath . This light appears to come on, heat up & then go out until it cools down & sometimes then comes back on, before going off again...and so on. It's off more than its on. not many streetlights around here, so a prompt fix would be appreciated. Safety/security issue.

Another streetlight out now - o/s no1 Schoolhill Place, Hillside, 20th December

Thu, 20 Dec 2012 08:28:21 +0000

There are only atotal of 3 lights in this street & about 6 in total for the junction/area. Two are now out - this area is adopted by ACC. This is a safety & security issue for the residents and given how busy this junction is - with a lorry/business park, car sales & all the new houses...it needs dealt with quickly.

Another streetlight out - Aberdeenshire Council adopted footpath, 19th December

Wed, 19 Dec 2012 14:24:35 +0000

Outside No.2 Schoolhill Place (actually on Hillside Road) - there are very few lights down here anyway, so another one being out is a real safety/security issue. This is now a very busy area with all the new housing & lorry/business park/car sales. Needs urgent attention

Where to start - Dangerous & Dirty Construction site/public road, 26th August

Sun, 26 Aug 2012 08:48:23 +0100

Veitchi Homes - Hillside Lane, Hillside, Portlethen. There are ongoing issues with this site. Many of these have previously been reported to yourselves & Grampian Police. For some reason, there seems to have been little or no intervention to improve the situation, which is now chronic...presumably because they know they will get away with it. The road in that area remains caked in mud, debris from the building site & other materials. In addition we have now had metal plates covering an open track across the road for several weeks - is this really acceptable? We have also had considerable lengths & numbers of multi utility excavations left open, for months now. These mean that there is no public footpath (or safe walkway) for over 100m. Add to this that construction related traffic often parks either side of the road & close to the site & yard entrances and visibility for both motorists & pedestrians is severely compromised. Clearly many of the operatives didn't receive 'Tufty' training when at school, often crossing between the site & yard (& vice versa) without looking. This whole operation is just an accident waiting to happen. It was never going to be easy to work in such a constrained site, next to a busy public road, but it hasn't been policed very well. Maybe if the Roads Dept can't deal with this, then the Planning Dept should. Also copied to Grampian Police for the road safety issues. Will again be raised with local councillors and the community council.

Ongoing muck on road surface at Veitchi Homes Devt, 24th July

Tue, 24 Jul 2012 12:48:37 +0100

This still hasn't been dealt with. Presumably that means that someone thinks it's acceptable? Requests for an update have been ignored. Is it really acceptable to have this mess on a public road surface, where there are considerable traffic movements, including commercial and where construction traffic is also parking on pavements...this combined with residents cars doing the same is making for a very dangerous environment for road users & pedestrians alike. Of course if the road hadn't been narrowed at this point it wouldn't be such an issue.

More muck on road from New Housing Development, 24th July

Tue, 24 Jul 2012 12:48:06 +0100

Note - Location only approx as maps out of date. Once again considerable muck has been deposited (during earth moving operations with overloaded trucks?) & then left on the road surface at the exit from the Charles Church/Betts end. We were given assurances that this wouldn't happen again & it has. It's just a repeat of the carry on with SMHs & also the Veitchi site - which is still a disgrace, but just left for an accident to happen. Requests for a further update from the council on what was done at the Veitchi site have just been ignored !

Construction site - poor signage, muck & parking, 14th May

Mon, 14 May 2012 13:53:01 +0100

At The Veitchi homes site, there are several areas of concerns relating to public safety, which require to be addressed. 1) no warning signs on approach from East side of site, although there are two random cones. 2) the signs on West approach had been placed blocking the public footpath (note - this is the only footpath at this point), these have now fallen over (have been like this since last week - so no checks being made?) , further blocking the footpath. This morning I witnessed both a young girl with a buggy & walking toddler have to take to the road to get past & also a man with crutches struggle to get past - number 3 below does not help. 3) construction vehicles have parked blocking the dropped kerb end to the footpath. On occasion several large vehicles have parked immediately outside the site, further narrowing the road...note there is no public footpath & therefore no safe haven for pedestrians. 4) road surface is not being cleaned at any point. This section is road is busier than many may think, due to housing, a garage business & several industrial units (with frequent HGVs etc). Public safety must be paramount.

Gutters & gullets need cleared, 5th May

Sat, 05 May 2012 13:59:00 +0100

For the length of Hillside Road (particularly between the Show village & Schoolhill Place) & many roads off it, considerable sand, stones & other debris from previous and nearby construction works has been allowed to gather in the gutters. In some places the drains/gulleys are completely covered. This could lead to flooding & it is also a hazard to both cars and pedestrians as it makes the road surface loose/slippery.

O/s 27 Hillside Road....this is a hazard to pedestrians, particularly the elderly/young. There are various other locations which have been spray painted for some time now, presumably awaiting remedial works. Note - this is within the new SMH development.
